Exploration Four: Amal

In watching the documentary film Fresh it really shows how the world is changing. It really changes how you view things in the world. The documentary was really made to show the world and anyone how their food is being handled or where it is coming from. It shows how farming has changed from the old traditions to this new ways of doing things and the consequences of it. The documentary was full of wonderful ideas and really good suggestions.

The documentary goes to show how farmers come together to fight the changes currently occurring. “ Part of the doers of the earth is to respect the design of nature”. If we don't try to fix the errors that are being done, it will only get worse. In is said that 30,000 chickens are all housed under one roof. And how 24,000 pigs are kept together under one roof. It is also called Mono-culture which is defined as the cultivation of a single crop in a given area. Which also brings the huge problems of sanitation. They also talk about “Cheap Feed” meaning feeding dead chickens to cows. And also feeding dead cows to cows and resulting from that is what they called “Mad Cow”. It is said that “ Nature is screaming to the industrial food industries “enough”.

“Farming grass- if you take care of the grass you are in return taking care of the animals eating the grass. It goes to show that as long as you take care of the things around you it will someday benefit you someday. A positive thing showed in this documentary is how the farmers really chose to really care for their animals small or big. Another positive matter is the local and organic benefit you and the community around you. They buy processed food because it is “ Faster, bigger and cheaper". But if they knew that local markets exist they would be curious, “ People want to eat these foods but they just don't have access to a local market”. It really is true, because in today's world everyone wants to know what is put into their food. In the film, Will Allen is the perfect example because he grows his own food and takes good care of it. He inspired a lot of people like Karen into eating healthy. If only in people could start applying those changes. Who knows maybe it would really change their lives.

  1. I like what you say "Another positive matter is the local and organic benefit you and the community around you". I think most farmers want to produced healthy and fresh food for us. There are a lot of good benefits for eating the organic foods!

  2. "Your body is a reflection of what you are.If you want to look healthy you have to be healthy." Although this was not said in the documentary, I really like that you added this to you Exploration 4 because it is very true. I also like that you said, "Who know maybe it would really change their lives." I think that is a bold statement because I personally believe that if you do change your eating habits that it can really change you mentally, physically, and emotionally. You just over-all feel like a better person when you make a positive lifestyle choice like that.

I tried to say the same thing in mine but couldnt type it out correctly like you did and did very well.

  4. I like your quotes which are really good. The last paragraph is best because it shows some ideas of food chain from ecosystem like how did you describe here. your little note was really influence to everyone and its true that our body is reflection of what we are and if we want healthy than we should have healthy food.

  5. “Farming grass- if you take care of the grass you are in return taking care of the animals eating the grass." I really like this quote. I think this is very true. When you take care of the grass and make sure it is clean and fresh, then the animals eating the grass will be healthy. Your writing is at its best in the last paragraph. You have many good quotes.

  6. "If we don't try to fix the errors that are being done, it will only get worse." this is really true because we aren't really thinking about the future and that we are only worrying about where we get our food from. Also if they keep treating animals like they do in the industrialized farm there won't be enough food production in the future because the animals keep getting sick, and catch decease and those can transfer to different animals with leads to killing most of the animals. The other problem is that the animals aren't treated with respect. I think that you're second paragraph was the best because you have very solid points and you explain the quotes very well.

  7. "If we don't try to fix the errors that are being done, it will only get worse." This is a really good quote, and your make a strong point here. Eventually, things will get worse because we are over exhausting our crops, livestock and our daily processed foods. We need to start returning to organic or fresh produce soon, otherwise, we will be past the point of no return (if we have not gone past it already).

  8. “Farming grass- if you take care of the grass you are in return taking care of the animals eating the grass" I like this quote because it really explains the cycle of how food is made
