Exploration 4: Jai Patel

Fresh was a very interesting documentary and it also had a lot of learning factors in it as well. The documentary is about farmers, business people across america who are reinventing our food system. The farmers are making changes that will change the future of our food and planet. All the farmers in the documentary have witnessed the change of our agriculture and they have adapted to it and made positive changes that have the potential to change the food industry and the way other farmers grow the food we eat everyday. It also shows how the animals are treated and the way the owners raise the animals. In the documentary two farmers share their story of how they raise there animals.

Some differences that are in the film are that one of the farmers uses special food that helps the animals grow faster so they can speed up the process a lot faster. One of the farmers even said " You have to do what ever it take to make the animals grow faster." When the interviewer ask the owner of the farm if he knows whats in the special food the owner says no and he owners wife says that "It has antibiotics in it to keep the animals alive."

One of the farmers name is Will Allen he is the farmer that raises organic vegetables and he also loves worms. He also using waste from the city to fertilize the soil. He also teaches the community around him the value of fresh foods.

One thing that really got my attention and that I think is really true after I watched this documentary is when they said "Americans fear only one thing, inconvenience." This can not be anymore true. The whole documentary your talking about industrial farms and organic farms, they tell the good things and the bad thing about the industrial farm and then they show us the organic farms and tell us the same things about organic farms. Organic farms are so much better then industrial farms because they don't use chemical or anything to help that animals grow faster. One of the farmers said "If you take care of the grass, then the grass will take care of the animals." This documentary has a positive learning experience because seeing the way how if you buy the right food, how beneficial it can be not just to you but also to the people around you.

  1. "It has antibiotics in it to keep the animals alive." I think that having antibiotics in animals food to make them grow faster is like animal abuse and that wrong to do. Everyone should be treated with respect. You're conclusion was what i thought where you're writing was the best.
