Chloe- Reading response and awareness

1. The speech that meant the most to me was the Dahli Lama's Acceptance speech because i think he had a lot of good things to say about how important our inner peace is to making the world a more loving and free place. He talks about how technological and material growth is important too but only up to a certain point and that your inner peace should come before that. a quote that instant stood out to me was "Peace can only last where human rights are respected, where individuals and nations are free. True peace with oneself and the world around us can only be achieved through the development of mental peace" I think that this is really important because we have to be happy with our selves and then we can treat others with the respect they deserve which he also points out later in his speech " when we have inner peace we can be at peace with those around us"

2. The riots in Ukraine took place in February of this year and the government there is all out of whack, people in the riots are getting killed and Russia is deploying troops into Ukraine. There is a lot of violence in this country right now and the police there are using live ammunition on the people who are in riots. I don't understand a lot about it at the moment but i know that a lot of people in Ukraine are suffering because of the huge dissarray in the country. This is so important to the world and us because at any moment it could happen to any country. We are all vulnerable without knowing it. We should care about this and work towards becoming as strong of a country as we can and unite and agree that we have to stick together to keep this from happening whether we disagree on things or not. I do not think that this is our problem but that doesn't mean that we cannot advocate for peace in Ukraine and support the hurting people.

  1. I learned a lot from your blog about the issue Ukraine is facing. I learned that the government there is dysfunctional and the people in the riots are getting killed and Russia is deploying troops into Ukraine. I am also concerned about this issue and wish they can solve the issue. Not a lot of people are aware of the issue going on in Ukraine. Great Job!
