Reading Response and Awareness

The reading that meant the most to me was Aung San Suu Kyi. I found her to be a very inspriational person for many different reasons. Since Aung was on house arrest when she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize her sons gave the speech for her. Her sons really showed how great of a person she really is and you can see how proud they really are for her. I think it is great that she spreads the awareness of being non-violent throughout this process. In addition too it is evident how much she loved Burma and it was shown through how important she stands for human rights and democracy. Her speech given by her sons was clearly very heartfelt and was very interesting to read.In the speech her sons says, "I know that if she were free today my mother would in thanking you also ask to pray that the oppressors the oppressed should throw down their weapons and join together to build a nation founded on humanity in the spirit of peace." This quote shows how she even though the people that put her in this position she is a good enough person to pray for them. She truly is an inspirational person. Right now Burma is still struggling but Aung San Suu Kyi is still fighting for their rights. In the most recent news Aung is promoting the condemning anti-Muslim violence. In addition too Aung met with Toby Abbott recently to talk about how she still wants "peace, security and freedom" for the Burma people.
One country that stands out with many different problems is Hati. Hati rights now it one of the hungarist countries in the world. In addition to the life expectancy according to Global Issues.com their life expectancy is only around 53 years old. Hati also just recently went through an earthquake which killed very high amount of people. Right now there are organizations that help Hati. One organization that is in the move to helping Hati is the Bali Hati Foundation. The Bali Hati Foundation gives service to Hati promoting education and social welfare. My hope for Hati is that the people of Hati will eventually be given as much opportunities that Americans have. I hope that one day no one will be hungry in Hati also. This affects us because of many different reasons. As well off as many people are in the United States it is our duty to help Hati through this rough time. We should care about this situation because people are dying because of how poor of a country Hati is. It is our will as Americans to help others in need. To help this situation we could start collecting money to give to Hati. Also in our schools if we have textbooks that we are no longer using we could send them to Hati to help their education system. I believe if we took these actions it would help Hati tremendously.
