Aziz Hamid Concern for Syria

The speech that meant the most to me is Humanitarianism (1999) for many reasons. This speech meant the most to because I come from a country where lifesaving essential medicines are too expensive or not even from available. I can relate to those civilians suffering in third world countries. In this speech it talks about an organization called “Medcines Sans Frintieres” (MSF).  They pioneer humanitarian work on several different continents. Also this speech means the most to me because I agree with MSF principles and beliefs. “No victim can be intentionally discriminated against, OR neglected to the advantage of another. One life today cannot be measured by its value tomorrow: and the relief of suffering here cannot legitimize the abandoning of relief over there.” I really like this quotes because it shows that this organization does not favor or offer more help to a specific group of people.  Right now doctors, nurses and other experts are volunteering their time to solve health issues around the world.

A country I am concerned about now is Syria. Syria has been in extreme violent war for the past three years. The war has broken down towns, hospitals and clinics. Syria is in a state of medical crisis, many Syrians are struggling to survive. Many of them suffer from bomb blast and gun shots injuries and have no treatment.  Syria lack many proper t health treatments, such as vaccinations.  Right now MSF are providing health care in Syria. MSF are setting up clinics and hospitals in Syria, but the war is making it hard for MSF to provide help. My hope for this country is that day Syria will be out of the war and maintain proper treatments for illnesses. I hope there are many hospitals and clinics where Syrians can receive treatment.  We should care about this issue it is our responsibility to provide help to those countries in need.

  1. The conflict and violence that is occurring in Syria is one that affects most of the world, especially the Middle East. Upwards of 150,000 people have been killed by the Assad regime, and thousands of the Syrian civilians are struggling to survive.

  7. I also chose the same topic and i think that what the MSF does is incredibly powerful and touching. They go to dangerous places because they feel its what humans do.
