I decided to research the environmental issues that come along with using commercial household cleaning products. Everyone uses some type of cleaning product in order to keep their home clean, but research shows that most of these products contain harsh chemicals that lead to indoor air pollution. According to Phillip Dickey of the Washington Toxics Coalition, the most dangerous of these cleaning products are corrosive drain cleaners, oven cleaners, and acidic toilet bowl cleaners. After soapy water has been rinsed down the drains of our sinks, they are treated along with sewage and then discharged into nearby waterways. Some ingredients in household cleaners breakdown into harmless substances, but others do not, which threatens the quality of the water. The solution to this problem would be to make your own cleaning products, homemade, using more gentile substances.

A lot of air pollutants are due to some sort of chemical that is dispersed in aerosol form. Many people use cleaning products, which is used abundantly by many houses and consequently the air is polluted from those chemicals like house hold cleaning products. I can understand that this is a concern for the environment.

I think most people are not aware of the damages their at home cleaning products are doing to air. I personally have never thought of it this way and it brings up a point and an easy fix I believe to just buy the natural products instead of the hurtful ones to the environment.

I have alot of aerosol cleaners in my house and my roomates always use they, great exploration and very helpful with the natural cleaners that are chemical free.
